Re: Any sucess for tax refund while training?

Oh god I hadn't even thought about the baby reference. My main reference is someone who's big in Ferber method, and I hear that HMRC don't really buy into that whole model... lets not even get started on my hobbies.

Re: Any sucess for tax refund while training?

It seems the longer this whole thing goes on the more people are claiming and the slower the process gets, so any updates are pretty much out of date by the time they happen. I'm finding the FB group amusing in that it feels very much like the applications threads on here at application time - "has...

Re: Should advice for doctorate interviews be pinned or wiki

Great idea with tidying it up - there were so many replies just to bump it/say thanks/you're welcome that the good advice was hard to find. Pinning it is really useful too - does that mean it's closed to replies now though?

Re: UEA 2016

I just wanted to chime in about traveling and expenses with living outside of your base. Absolutely do whatever's best for you, living wise, but justttt want you guys to know that you won't be reimbursed for any traveling between your home and base. And the only way you'll now get reimbursed for tr...

Re: The Great Big Progress Thread for 2016

Right, I'm taking a moderator decision to ban Randomswirls from the progress thread. I clicked on it so excitedly when I saw her name as the most recent poster, thinking that there was news, and it was just her being nice and congratulating people. Can't cope with it all!   Can I re...

Re: UEA 2016

Congratulations to everyone!! I have just been offered a place off the reserve list, based in Fenlands. This might be a bit of a long shot, but I was wondering whether anyone placed in either Ipswich or Bury would like to swap (I know some people really don't mind where they are based). I have an e...

Re: What is the typical peak salary for a clinical psycholog

I really appreciate all the informative responses to this - I was a bit concerned they were going to be extremely negative/dismissive. It's also been interesting to consider how different everything may be in a decade or so with regard to salary. I probably should clarify that I never intended to w...

Re: 5 things I'm thinking today. . .

Happy birthday, MindfulPsych, and enjoy your cake-y breakfast. Cake is food, and food doesn't have moral qualities or personality traits, so it is not cheeky or guilt-inducing - it is your delicious breakfast and an all round good idea. ;) Hear, hear! Cake whenever you want cake! This is the only w...

Re: The Great Big Progress Thread for 2016

Still in shock Birmingham!!!!!!!!!!! Finally done it, 5(2) applications in ;) (5 really but should be 2) Can I just say, as someone who has had quite a few posts where I was the only psych person, or the only person on the clinical treadmill, this forum has been a lifeline - you helped me when my A...

Re: UEA - How did you choose bases?

I didn't know they added a Yarmouth/Waveney base this year! Interesting! Sadly I don't really know about quality of placements in either base, but there's always variety and wiggle room for your development needs. Living wise, I'd probably lean towards Yarmouth too as you can live in/near Norwich if...

Somewhat unexpected to say the least!
Also put off calling Sheffield until Manchester was done.

Sorry to see those browns :(
What does purple Sheffield mean?!
I definitely see that as blue... uh oh....

Re: The Great Big Progress Thread for 2016

Thanks for the support, folks! Re: reserve places, the email says "Please note that we cannot and do not discuss with reserve candidates their position on the list, so please do not request this information." so I think that's pretty definitive. I also hope they don't ring, because I live out of th...
