Re: samaritans

Hi, I used my experience as a Samaritan (both as a listener and as part of the prison team) in IAPT interviews. I did have additional experience when I was offered several jobs within IAPT, but I definitely talked about my Samaritan work at each interview, especially when asked about risk and teleph...

Re: Voluntary Assistant Psychologist Contracts

Hi I have a copy of a Honorary AP contract drawn up by the service, my supervisor and myself (the honorary AP), before I joined the service. It wasn't the final version but was more or less the same.

If you are interested PM me with your email and I will forward you a copy.

Re: 5 things I'm thinking today. . .

1. Free food/lunches - admittedly one of my favourite parts of doing a PhD (not why I chose to go back to studying but certainly a massive plus point). 2. So much to do tomorrow. I really wish I hadn't wasted so much of my time being excited about free food. 3. I have been keeping an eye on the Clin...

Re: Countries you'd really love to visit

I feel lucky to have visited quite a range of countries. But are still loads I really want to visit: Norway to see the Fjords, Australia to see the great barrier rief, South Africa to go diving with great white sharks, anywhere in South East Asia and Morrocco for the food (just to name a few).

Hi, I'm wondering if anyone has access to these articles (in English): KAÇAR, S. D., ÖZUĞUZ, P., BAĞCIOĞLU, E., COŞKUN, K. Ş., POLAT, S., & KARACA, Ş. (2014). Re: PDF Book Request 'Occupation Groupings: A Job Dictionary

It may be worth checking if you can recommend e-books or request an inter-library loan, through your University library. I have been really suprised by how good the University, that I am currently at, is with purchasing books that I have requested.

Re: Annual Leave: Trainee PWP

Just to ecco what others have said: that as you are an employee, you tend to receive annual leave in the same way that an usual employee would receive. However, most courses expect full attendence of the university days (as you have to attend a minimum number of teaching hourse). The course I did wa...

Re: what can i do with a 2:2?

Hi akindrat18, I would second what Phatoss has said. I am aware of people who have completed a Masters courses following a 2.2 at Undergraduate, even when the website has stipulated a 2.1. It can be helpful to contact courses to discuss whether they would be flexible and to put accross your interest...

Stigma article

Hi everyone,

Hope you have had a lovely Christmas break.

I was just wondering if anyone had access to:

Re-framing Stigma: Felt and Enacted Stigma and Challenges to the Sociology of Chronic and Disabling Conditions (Scambler, 2004)

Would be very much appreciated.

Cheers,

Re: Interview for occupational therapist assistant

Hi Melody Firstly, well done on getting an interview. I haven't worked as an occupational therapy assistant before, but I have been interviewed by patients for previous jobs. In my experience it was similar questions to what an interview panel would ask, but I think what they were looking at was how...

Re: HI therapist newly qualified can't get work

Hi Sbact, I am not a CBT therapist, but have previously worked within IAPT as a PWP, so I can't give you any specific advice re getting CBT work. I just wondered if you had thought of contacting any healthcare recruitment agencies (whether to register or ask for some advice)? They usually have tempo...

Re: Confused over whether to leave AP role so soon

My suggestion would be to go to the interview and use it as an opportunity to ask questions, meet members of the team and find out more about the role. You're in a better position then, if you are offered the job, to make an informed decision.

Re: Job opportunities after PWP training...

Hi Sam1987, I completed the PWP course this year and the majority of my cohort went on to Qualified PWP jobs. However, while on the course I realised that I was drawn more to the interplay between physical and mental health and I really enjoying going back to Uni. As a result I decided to apply for ...
