Re: Why is the average age 28?

Very interesting debate. I don't have much to add to what has already been mentioned, however I think you're kind of falling into the trap of generalising your experiences onto others. Although you may prefer an older CP, others may not (and others may). As previously mentioned, one cannot truly und...

Re: Advice - recovery work role vs honorary AP

Ah yes I am definitely enjoying the very different challenges different settings bring. I think I'm gradually developing into a workaholic though. Also my first year has been part-time voluntary work, this year has been my only intensive full-time working one within which most of my work experiences...

Re: Advice - recovery work role vs honorary AP

Hi, Graduated last year. I've worked in various settings (e.g. mental health and substance misuse, neuro-rehab, LD and challenging behaviour, older adults and neuro in the community) either as an honorary AP/AP/Support staff. May seem like a lot of experience however it is spread across my last unde...

Re: Goldsmiths (MScCognitive & Clinical Neuroscience)

Thank you very much for the response ell. I am now of the mind-set that I will work full-time if I obtain an AP position that will only allow for full-time staff. However if they are flexible (for example, they allow me to work on a weekend day instead of specific day of the week) I will complete th...

Re: Shortlisting Updates

Much appreciated BlueGems.

Blue Gems subtracted by dissertation equals Megzi.

On topic: I believe the posts within Kent and Medway NHS & Social Care Partnership Trust will be shortlisted for by Thursday as indicated by the advert stating 'Completed applications by: 27 June 2013'.

Re: Shortlisting Updates

You're welcome. Indeed, there is still hope! Ah, that would be sweet. Working locally would be my dream. Yes I got an interview there (which cheered me up following my performance during an interview today).

Re: Advice - recovery work role vs honorary AP

Hi,

That is fine. I think pinging out emails and calling clinical psychologists (easier said than done) is a good starting point. Sometimes that's how life works out, little do you know a wonderful opportunity may be around the corner.

Good luck

Re: Shortlisting Updates

Hi BlueGems,

This is a post within Margate (and was advertised over a week before the positions in Dartford & Gillngham). Judging from the Margate post, the other two positions should be shortlisted for sometime next week.

Good luck.

Re: Shortlisting Updates

AP post in Thomas Edward Mitton House (BIRT) has shortlisted. When I applied with the DT group previously they sent out letters - was this letter or email or phone call? just so I know whether to maintain hope for the rest of the day or not! I don't think they would have stopped shortlisting so fin...

Re: help please?

I agree with the view of moving sideways. But in addition to that volunteering as an Honorary Assistant Psychologist for 1 to 2 days to enhance your experiences would be a good idea. Personally I would try and find a support role and honorary assistant psychologist working with different client grou...

Re: 5 things I'm thinking today. . .

1. I love having days off during the week so I can apply for AP posts before they close. 2. Does it make me sad to voluntary opt for weekend work? 3. I'm finally getting shortlisting for AP posts. 4. I thought I'd be jumping off the walls but I'm quite calm. 5. I need to stop procrastinating by appl...
