Two part time posts equate to more than 1.0 wte?

Post by faz121 » Thu Sep 04, 2014 9:07 am

Dear all,

Hoping someone can help me with a query re: having two part time jobs. I was wondering whether it's possible to have two part time jobs (1 is 0.5, other is 0.6) as a clinical psychologist. The 0.5 job is possible to be done as compressed hours i.e. work two long days.

I am wondering if this is possible or something that people have done previously? I've got a 0.5 job but struggling to find another 0.5 job so considering 0.6 jobs as well. I'm also going to ask HR but would appreciate any other thoughts/experiences.

Thanks

Its fine. You can sign a working time directive opt-out if you want to work more than 48 hours per week, but it isn't an issue if you want to work less than that. Bear in mind many jobs outside CP are 40 hours per week anyway (1.1 of 37.5 hours is only 41.25), and many medics work 11 session contracts.

Thanks for that information Miriam - very helpful to know as I was getting worried about finding an exact half to my other part time post! :)
