Participants Required: Study on Sexual Regret and Mental Wellbeing in Young Women

Post by KiceSie » Fri Nov 02, 2018 2:48 pm

My name is Kellie Jacques and I am currently completing my doctorate in clinical psychology at the University of Oxford. I am recruiting participants for my study on young women’s experiences of sexual regret. This research aims to understand more about the relationship between sexual regret and mental health in young women. The study itself has been ethically approved by the University of Oxford Central University Research Ethics Committee (CUREC), and is an online survey that takes about 30 minutes. It is open to women aged 18-25 who have experienced regret following a consensual, heterosexual sexual encounter, who speak fluent English, are resident in the UK, and are UK citizens. Participants who complete the survey can also enter to win a £100 donation in their name to a registered charity of their choice.

What is the purpose of this research?

Research shows that a large number of young women regret at least one consensual sexual encounter, but it is not clear whether this impacts on individual’s wellbeing. We are interested in learning more about this possible association between sexual regret and mental wellbeing in young women, as well as factors that may affect this relationship.
This study is being conducted as part of a Doctoral dissertation and the researcher also hopes to publish this study after completion of the dissertation.

Who are we looking for?

We would like to hear from women aged 18-25 who:
* Have experienced regret following a consensual heterosexual sexual encounter
* Are resident in the UK, a UK citizen, and speak fluent English
* Have 30 minutes to complete an online survey

What do you have to do?

This study is an anonymous online survey, so you will be able to complete everything using the internet. The study involves answering some questions about your experience of sexual regret and how this has affected you. There will be some additional questionnaires that will ask you about your mood and how you relate to yourself when things do not go well.
The questionnaires should take about 30 minutes to complete. You can save the questionnaires at any time if you want to take a break and complete them at a later date. You can also leave the survey at any time by closing the internet browser.
At the end of the survey, you will have the option to enter into a prize draw to win a £100 donation to a registered charity of your choice in your name.

Hi Kellie

Could you tell me who your supervisor is for your doctorate? I'm a clinical psychologist and am hoping to get back into research. My area of interest is similar to yours and it would be great to have a possible contact - I'd ideally like to do a PhD at Oxford.

Many thanks
Patricia
