Are there any books you can recommend for someone interested in studying Psychology and wanting to pursue a career as a psychologist?

the handbook of adult clinical psychology
http://www.amazon.co.uk/The-Handbook-Ad ... 158391854X

This is quite a nice text, covering a general overview of the types of settings in which clinical psychologists work in, and the types of work they do.

The careers page on the BPS website may also be able to provide some useful information

I've found the "What is Clinical Psychology?" book extremely useful. Although the title sounds like it will be a very basic book, each chapter covers a different area of clinical psychology, e.g. working with children, working with offenders etc, and goes into the role of a CP in this field, case studies, research etc.
