Genuinely curious as someone new to this site. Surely there aren't just hundreds of lurkers who know very little about CP?

Do you mean the wiki? That's a reference set of posts that are constantly updated. We don't have many posts that have no answers, unless they are just informational.

If you click the unanswered posts button at the top of the forum there are 50 posts since last August. I've just done an audit of them for you. Of those eight are recruiting research participants, six are promoting events, six are job adverts, four are requests for papers, two promote a publication, two are wiki entries, three are other informational posts - all of these would get lots of views, but none of these require a response. Then there are two questions that ask for specific information about a specific interview, and are against our rules to ask or answer. Two ask information about practise tests - information that has been repeatedly provided in other threads. Two were in the wrong place. One was a locked post that duplicated the topic of a curated thread.

That leaves seven posts in seven months that were not answered where an answer might be expected, although most were very specific or asking for information that might not be known by our members. That doesn't seem much at all to me. We get that many threads posted on each day, or more, each with multiple posts.
