Calling CBT practitioners - BE resources help wanted
Do any of you more CBT oriented folks have a cracking recipe for fake sick??
preferably with realistic smell

A tin of vegetable soup was always the favourite of the CBT therapist where I used to work. You could probably mix in some off yoghurt for the smell element! Ew, I've just offended myself with that suggestion!

Put grated parmesan in the vegetable soup. Apparently vomit and parmesan contain the exact same chemicals and therefore have a similar smell. And our clever brains know whether to be disgusted or appetised based on how it's labelled.

I thought parmesan, and veg soup sounds like a good consistency (let's hope the person isn't put off veg soup for life!). I wonder if the nurses here in clinic will mind if we flush it down the loo?

Tinned veg soup is the only thing I've heard of being used as fake sick... make sure there are plenty of carrots

I haven't tried it myself (yet!). But I got this recipe from a previous job:
RECIPE FOR VOMIT
Tinned Rice
Minestrone or Chicken Soup Mix
Parmesan Cheese
Vinegar
Sour Milk

Combining the exposure in imagination for vomiting with the smell of vomit is especially pungent. Butyric acid is the responsible for the smell of vomit and can be purchased in a concentrated form from specialist suppliers over the internet. It is also found naturally in rancid butter and parmesan cheese. Locations of natural smell of vomit include casualty departments early evening (especially children’s area). The therapist and patient may also role-play themselves vomiting with a plastic bucket with recipe for vomit and added butyric acid.
Enjoy!

Just came across this one too, for anyone interested now or in future! http://www.emetophobiaresource.org/12--smellsight.html
Sour 1/2 cup milk by leaving it on the counter for 24-48 hours
Add:
1 tin of vegetable soup (or any "feared" ingredient)
1/2 cup parmesan cheese
1/4 cup vinegar
For best results add n-butyric acid (available here: http://www.camlab.co.uk/n-butyric-acid- ... 15492.aspx)
Can't imagine nurses here in the hospital being very happy about the sour milk... I'm thinking homework task??

PS the added 'danger factor' for this particular case is me being 3 - 4 months pregnant
