***Read before posting: Supervision and Confidentiality***

Although it is appropriate to discuss issues that relate to different forms of therapy, the impact of clinical work, and different presenting problems in this section, this should not be used as a substitute for supervision. With a supervisor you can discuss the individual case in appropriate depth, with knowledge of the context, and have clear lines of accountability and clinical responsibility, which you do not have on an internet message board.

It is also essential that no posts give details that would identify an individual service user or otherwise breach confidentiality. Please do not discuss the specifics of a client's presentation or any unusual difficulties here. Always remember that this is a public forum and your clients and colleagues could find it and potentially recognise you or themselves. Always err well on the side of caution where matters of confidentiality could be at stake.

It is fine to discuss broader themes and general issues, such as anxiety, depression, psychosis, learning disabilities, autism, ADHD etc., and ask how other people have experienced using different approaches such as CBT, systemic work, psychodynamic, CAT, personal construct therapy, consultation, neuropsychology etc.

These rules are in keeping with the BPS Code of Conduct and good professional practice. Posts that breach either of these two essential rules may be deleted or edited by moderators. If you see a post that is questionable, please post to remind the person of these rules and report it to a moderator.

We hope this forum can be a great resource for sharing creative ideas, different ways of working and recommending good books and other resources which can help with clinical work.
