Hi,
My name is Awula, I have joined to learn and share information about the Clinical Psychology application process. I am not an experienced computer user and may not even figure out how to reply to chats but I am willing to learn.

Re: Hello: Introduce yourself here!
Hi everyone
My name is Joanna and I'm currently studying Clinical Psychology MSc at Newcastle University.
My hope is to try and get onto a funded Trainee PWP course after graduating, but I know how competitive these positions are becoming! I have been in paid employment for 5 years as a pharmacy dispenser, and alongside this I have 5 years experience of several different voluntary Support Worker positions working with a range of individuals with mental illness. It's come the time and I feel (and really want to) be in paid employment working with individuals with mental illness and putting my several years studying psychology and experiences to good use!
If anyone has any tips or advice for getting a funded Trainee PWP position, or just wants a general chat about being a psychology graduate (which can be overwelming at times) I'm happy to chat

Hi everyone
I'm Hannah. I graduated from uni in 2016 with a first in Forensic Psychology and am currently working as an Assistant Psychologist in the NHS after spending 5 years as a healthcare assistant. I have applied for the dclin this year (second time round - no interviews last year) and follow the forum page regularly looking for updates and advice.
I love to dance, do ballet and Zumba weekly and use this as my 'me time' to unwind and think about absolutely nothing.

Re: Hello: Introduce yourself here!
Hello everyone!
Like many of you I'm a long-time visitor, but a first-time contributor.
I'm 28, originally from Hungary, but I am planning to settle in the UK by 2019. I did my BA in Psychology in Hungary and my MSc in Cognitive and Clinical Neurosciences in the Netherlands. Currently I am undertaking a PhD in Psychiatry at a UK university, my research is in the area of autism spectrum conditions. I'm hoping to apply to the doctorate next year, once I'm close to finishing the PhD (fingers crossed).
I've had my first work experience in a laboratory, where I was running experiments on mouse brain slices and testing different drugs for tissue repair. Although not directly relevant to clinical psychology, I enjoyed the insight into basic science and how it contributes to rehabilitation.
I've also worked briefly as a bank HCA in a general hospital (not mental health) and I've had two assistant posts in neuropsychology, so my experience is somewhat limited specialisation-wise. With that said, these posts challenged me both personally and professionally and I feel that I learned plenty from them.
In my free time I enjoy studying languages, going on bike rides and listening to blues/jazz. My favourite colour changes regularly, right now it seems to be purple. I don't like coriander or chocolate cake, but I'm a big fan of coffee and pie. I wish I had a pet, but, alas, I live in a rented flat that doesn't allow me to have one. Maybe in a couple of years I'll get to have a furry friend (or something similar)!
Looking forward to seeing your posts across the boards of the forum!

Re: Hello: Introduce yourself here!
Hello, I have used this forum for some time but not joined until now. It has been a very useful resource for me so I hope to be useful myself.
About me: I am an Assistant Psychologist working with survivors of major trauma and I have previously worked as an AP in neurorehabilitation as well as Support Work. I did my undergrad at Royal Holloway and an MSc in Cognitive and Clinical Neuroscience at Goldsmiths.
I am a fourth time applier this year and am very pleased to have 3 Interviews (Bangor, Leeds and Liverpool) after 3 years of very little. I will update on any progress I have or hear about in case it would benefit anyone.
Good luck to everyone going through interviews!

Hi there!
I'm Jazz, nice to meet you all.
I'm a CBT therapist working in eating disorders in the NHS - seriously considering ClinPsy but unsure how realistic it would be for me to try... That's what I'm hoping to work out here. Specifically at the moment interested in conversion MSc's so that's probably where you're likely to find me forum-wise.

Re: Hello: Introduce yourself here!
Hi All
I've drifted in and out of lurking on this forum for some time now, so thought I should probably sign up as you lot seem alright, though obviously I have no comparison... OK OK I may have been reading Spatch's post about being involved in the interview process for an AP post and how some candidaes described themselves in the application
In case anyone's wondering, the "inspiration" for my name has come from the amount of times I have had to correct people about the work of a psychologist (including one previous job where I mentioned to someone I studied forensic psychology, and they (genuinely) asked me if I one day hoped to appear on CSI...

Hi everyone!
I joined the forum a while ago but somehow this intro page passed me by! I have completed my Bsc in Psychology and MSc in Forensic Psychology, and I am currently working as a Research Assistant on the evaluation of a new intervention for offenders. Previously, I have been a HCA on PICU and medium secure wards, an RA (again) and Volunteer admin at a prison during my latter degree. Oh and I have an interview for a new role as an AP in a few days! Any q's fire away! I feel a sense of guilt given how much I have gained from this forum and would like to start helping others as much as poss

Welcome jazzydwi, notreally (good name/story btw) and psychsars. You know you could always write a "day in the life" for past roles to add to our wiki
