Realised I hadn't commented on this! I graduated in 2013 and start training this year (2015), so two years.

Just for the sake of adding some context, I was a late starter, not going to uni until I was 25, and by this point I already had a couple of years of ad hoc, part time, peer mentor/service user consultant experience under my belt. I worked solidly throughout uni in two different NHS trusts that I knew employed assistant psychologists, so I would have the opportunity to apply for internal roles once I got my degree (whilst also building up very useful administrative skills!!), and once I received my degree classification an internal AP post did come up which I was successful in getting. A year after working in that service I moved to another AP post (current job) working with a completely different client group. So, I've got quite a lot of varied experiences, they are all just squashed together and overlapping at times! So, for me, two years has felt quite right :)

5 years after my undergrad, and it will be 2 years after finishing my MSc.

Still so surreal this getting on the course business ;)

So excited to be adding to these threads, I found it really useful info while I was applying and thinking about my age, experience and background.

I graduated in 2012 and am due to start this September. I really feel like this is the right time for me -I feel mature enough to handle the course content and young enough to cope with the sleepless nights before deadlines!

It's been 8 years since I graduated, which now that i think about it seems like a very long time ago, and starting the course in September. Now i feel old...

Trust me it is in unlikely you will when you start- in my cohort we had lots of of 30th birthdays in the first year or 2- so quite a few had been graduated a similar length of time

5 years from BSc, 4 years from Msc, 2.5 years if time spent spent travelling is taken into account

So there are 352 responses as of today. Would be great if all our 2016 successful applicants could add their data.

1 year, but I was a career/degree change, so by the time I graduated with my BSc I had 3 years of MHSW work (having worked between degree changes and full-time during my BSc Psychology - no fun!)

7 years after graduation but that included some unemployment, masters, volunteering as an AP, to then emigrating to the UK. Realistically 3 years after paid AP work and having an idea of this health care system.. my truer answer would be 3 years I'd say plus the lived experiences across the previous 4 years :)

5 years!

I did an MSc immediately after my BSc to improve my chances, and have worked for the past 4 years in both relevant and irrelevant posts (not through choice!), with several periods of unemployment (sometimes through choice!).

It's a long and hard road, so well done everyone regardless! :)
