Honorary Research Assistant, London - now closed

Post by damnsaiyan » Tue Jan 10, 2012 10:12 am

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a psychology graduate to take part in a piece of research being carried out in the area of chronic pain. The role of the honorary research assistant will involve interviewing patients with chronic pain individually using a semi-structured interview protocol. Interviews will then need to be transcribed and analysed (guidance will be given on how to analyse the transcripts if needed). There would also be the possibility to contribute to the write-up of the study. In addition, there will also be the opportunity to sit in on follow-up sessions of a group pain management programme.

You will be volunteering with a small team consisting of a consultant clinical psychologist, a physiotherapist, a nurse, a psychology assistant and an administrator. The hours of the post are flexible as transcribing interviews can be done at home if the post-holder prefers, however, our service only runs on a Monday and Tuesday. We are looking to have approximately 6 patients interviewed, with each interview lasting around an hour. Reasonable travel expenses will be reimbursed.

We do require that applicants have some prior experience of volunteering/working with patients who have mental health or physical health issues. In addition, we ask that the post-holder commits to at least three months with us. The post will be supervised by the consultant clinical psychologist.

The post is based at Lewisham Hospital, London. If you are interested, please email a copy of your CV, and a covering statement explaining what you hope to gain from the post as well as what you can bring to it: [email address removed by mod at OP's request, after closure of post]

Hi Mods, could this thread be closed please as I'm unsure how to do it myself! If possible, could you remove my email address from the original post? I can't seem to see the Edit button anywhere.

Hi damnsaiyan,

Would you like this topic to be locked (so no-one can post a response onto the thread, but it remains visible), or removed completely from the forum?
