Coventry & Warwick 2014

Post by LuckyG89 » Sat Apr 26, 2014 4:27 pm

Hey All,

So after many years of trying I have finally been accepted at my first choice of course and will be joining the Cov/War 2014 cohort :D.

I thought it would be nice to introduce ourselves here...

I'm Lakshman (Lucky for short)....from the Bournemouth in the South, so will be re-locating for the course :D.

Anyway, I would love to hear from others joining the course :) and look forward to meeting you all in September :)

Lucky

Hi :)

I'm not a Cov trainee and didn't apply there but I am a Coventry Native (now living in Surrey). Just want to say if anyone wants any advice on better areas to live (there are some to definitely avoid!), local amenities etc. I am willing to help in anyway I can

I will be starting the course in September! Will be nice to meet everyone!

I am from Nottingham and so will need to move a bit closer. Thank you Biggsy for offering your help regarding moving. I am sure I will be asking a few questions :D

Hi Biggsy, thanks for posting. I'd be very interested to know what the places are you recommend and which ones you suggest avoiding!

One area I would definitely avoid that may come up in your searches because of its proximity to the town centre is 'Hillfields'. It's not a very nice area and there are some dodgy characters around there! For the same reasons 'Ball Hill' and 'Foleshill' should also be avoided. The good thing about Cov is it is very cheap so you can get a nice place without forking out loads (certainly compared to Surrey where I currently live!). In recent years there have been some nice new build flats quite close to the city centre. The city centre itself is nice, plenty of shops (I miss that the most!). Night life is a bit dim these days as a few clubs have closed and the ones that survived weren't ones I was a fan off to begin with. There is some okayish bars though.

That's all I have for the moment. By all means if when you are looking for a place and you want to check the area with me, drop me a PM with the postcode/street name and I will do my best to advise you :)

I would second Earlsdon as a nice location. It has been a big up and coming area in Cov for a few years now, alot more people go to Earlsdon bars for nights out. Also my brother lived in Earlsdon and now lives right next to it in Chapelfields which is also nice :)

Also they said an estate agent called unac is fairly cheap.

Just thought I'd share the update

Hi
I'm one of the trainees for the 2014 cohort and live in Coventry already.

Really looking forward to meeting you all, and if you do have any questions on areas/accomodation etc happy to answer them! :D

Hi everyone,

I'm very excited to say that I will be joining you all in September :D I live in Oxfordshire at the moment and can't relocate, so I'm hoping the m40 will be kind to me over the next 3 years!
