Trent 2015
Re: Trent 2015
You can't take any annual leave on teaching days, which includes the long teaching block at the start of training (September til end of December, unless they've changed it) and the regular one day a week teaching (this ends in about May each year). You can obviously take annual leave on placement days (as long as you attend the minimum number of days for each placement) and on research/study days though.kk123 wrote:Hey, does anyone know how annual leave works whilst on training? Hope you all enjoy your pre-training summers!

Thank you Toria that's helpful. Sorry to ask another question - How do the year two and three placements work? (Eg are all four placements in your home trust?) And how much choice do you get in the third year specialist placement? Thanks x

I'm planning to do a bit of travelling! and also some house hunting in Lincoln. Oh and hopefully relaxing at some point too
I feel it's going to be a very busy but exciting summer!
What's everyone else getting up to?

Just to hijack this - as an ex-Trent person - most of your placements will be in your home Trust, but not all - e.g. I knew of Lincoln trainees doing older adult placements in Nottingham, and Notts trainees doing CAMHS placements in Lincolnshire.n2526 wrote:Thank you Toria that's helpful. Your specialist placement can be in any of the trusts in the region, in my experience everyone got their first choice. Some people did a 6 month specialist, and others did a year long, with their 3rd core placement happening in parallel. So in 3rd year I had one day a week OA, and two days specialist.

Re: Trent 2015
Yes definitely
I am going travelling for almost all of August though so unless it's before or early September I may not be around! I'm really looking forward to meeting everyone though

Re: Trent 2015
I wondered if any current/past trainees were able to give any info on how the weeks are usually structured? e.g. after teaching block is it typically placement mon-wed, uni thurs, study fri (as an example) or does it change depending on years? thanks!
Re: Trent 2015
Hi Amy,
I finished last year and the weekly structure varied on the year. First and third years were Monday teaching, Tuesday-Thursday placement and Friday study day, and second year was Monday-Wednesday placement, Thursday teaching and Friday study day. However, sometimes a placement might require you to swap days, this happened for a few of us during training.
Hope that helps

Re: Trent 2015
I think it's mid to the end of July for DBS to come back to us. Not sure about placement info but I thought they sent us the details before we get started in September. This is just the impression I got from other trainees but I could be wrong - does anyone else know?
