Hello!

Just thought I would start a chat to speak to some of the new trainees that I will hopefully be joining in October 😊

Look forward to meeting you all!

Hi!
I’m technically from last year’s cohort but I only did 3 months before going on maternity leave with twins! So I’ll be dropping into your cohort from November. Looking forward to meeting the new group.

Hi both,

I'll be joining you at Cardiff this year. Very much looking forward to starting and meeting everyone!
Will either of you be moving for the course?

I will be moving from Portsmouth to Cardiff :) I am originally from Cardiff so it’s not a huge change - although I haven’t lived there for around 6 years and now just have the small matter of finding somewhere to live! What about anyone else?

Does anyone know if there is a teaching block at the start of the course/when we would be starting our first placement? (Keen to find out some more info which I’m sure we will get shortly haha)

I’ve just moved into my house in Monmouth so I’ll be commuting.
The course starts with a 2 week induction (I’ll call in a few times during this, there are free lunches to be had!)
Then there are 4 weeks of teaching block before going onto placement 3 days a week, with 1 day a week teaching and 1 day a week study. Last year we found out the placements on day 2!

Any other questions feel free to ask or private message me and I’ll see if I can answer.

I'm from Swansea but will be moving in with my partner who lives in Pontypridd.

Thanks Amy, its good to know a bit more about what to expect :) It'll be good to be able have some time to get to know everyone during the teaching block, before going on placement.

When did you interview, Daffodil93? I was on the Wednesday afternoon.

Yes thanks Amy that’s great to know! And definitely good to get some time to meet everyone and get to grips with everything before we set out on our first placement :)

I interviewed on Tuesday morning. Everyone seemed really lovely 😊

Where have you both been placed in terms of health board? I’m in Cardiff and Vale - interested to see the different services where I may be placed.

They haven’t actually confirmed it but I was promised Aneurin Bevan because of where I live and sorting out childcare so fingers crossed they remembered!

I've been given Cwm Taf, which was my preferred choice so I'm really pleased :D

Do either of you know when we are likely to get our HR/contract bits through and confirmed? :) Just thinking in terms of finding somewhere to live, I may need some proof of job security so hoping we get this before September.

They did say that they were hoping to start sending out employment stuff last week, so hopefully it won't be too much longer :)
