This section is for discussion relating to the Layard report, and subsequent schemes like Improving Access to Psychological Therapies where lower intensity inteventions are offered in primary care

Self funding PWP - How does it work?

Post by AEH07 » Wed Jun 15, 2016 10:03 am

Hello,

I have applied for a few trainee PWP roles, however on the likelihood I'm unsuccessful, I was thinking about self funding the course. Has anyone ever done this before, how does it work? I understand 1 day per week is based at uni, and 4 days on placement - if self funding do they arrange this for you? And do you get paid?

Do you think self funding is worth it?

Thanks :)

I don't think it is possible, the work is work, rather than a placement - you get employed by a trust who then pays for your training.
At least I'm not as mad as that one!

Yes, can apply to UCLAN and Liverpool John Moores University to self fund the course.

I am way out of touch in that case! What do they say about sorting out supervision and clinical work?

Apparently, they sort everything out, you literally just pay for the course provided by the university.
