The great big clinical psychology doctoral application progress thread 2022
Re: The great big clinical psychology doctoral application progress thread 2022
Hi all,
I hope you're all holding up ok. I'm a first time poster and long-time lurker but I'm posting today to let people who are on the reserve list for interview for Coventry and Warwick know that I am withdrawing my application and will not be attending my interview on Thursday 7th April 2022 at 10:30. Just a heads up as it's only a few days away and I wanted to give people as much prep time as possible.
My journey:
2021
Lancaster
Liverpool
Manchester
Staffordshire > Staffordshire
2022
Coventry and Warwick > application withdrawn
Leeds
Liverpool
Manchester
Still sinking in for me at the moment and feels bizarre to be withdrawing from an interview! I keep re-reading the acceptance email and panicking that they're going to get in contact and say they made an admin error! Best of luck to everyone through this gruelling process, you will get there!

Hi! I'm an international applicant applying for self-funded places. Hope everyone is keeping well - sending you all care amidst this anxiety provoking period. One is all it takes, and I'm very grateful to share that I secured a place this year (though funding for me would be a separate hurdle...) :
2020:
UCL
2021:
UCL
King's
Royal Holloway
2022:
UCL
Hertfordshire
Exeter
Royal Holloway
UEA !!
The UK Dclinpsy community has been the most helpful and supportive, so am trying my luck here to connect with any international or even home applicants (i believe outcomes are not yet out
) who are planning to train in UEA. Do drop me a message! Wishing everyone all the best as you await your outcomes as well.

Completely different outcome to last year which I put down to having an amazing supervisor, invaluable exp in a crisis service, letting go of what I thought made the 'perfect' candidate/application form, and ultimately embracing my own route into clinpsych and conveying who I am and what I have to give.ebp2104 wrote: ↑Tue Mar 29, 2022 12:25 pm 2020 - 2months AP experience at time of applying (lol)

Glad I applied that year as I realised that the selection tests were not my strength.
2021 - Had 1yr AP exp in private sector, 2months NHS AP exp at time of applying.
Leeds
Liverpool
Teesside
Leicester
2022 - Had an additional year of NHS exp at time of applying

Wow that's amazing well done! Good that you feel you got yourself across and have got offered interviews and places from that!
Good luck for your final interview at Leeds

I was working as an AP in an LD-CAMHS team and was definitely was not ready for the doctorate at that time! 2021 was my first proper go at it, and my application was much stronger than the year before. So understandably I was incredibly disappointed with a full house of rejections. I've now moved to a different AP role within a Family Safeguarding Model service and my application is not only much stronger but approached differently. Hoping it pays off, this process is soul crushing.

Congratulations to everyone who has been offered a place! I’m also sending my thoughts to all of you going through the process this year!
Re: The great big clinical psychology doctoral application progress thread 2022
Hi all,
All the best to everyone. Well done to those who have got places. And to those who are on the reserve - I feel for you - good luck. Shame we don't get told what number we are on the reserve list or how long it is; quite different to other universities.
So I've been applying for a long time
can't remember how many times
Been working in the NHS for many moons. Thought I'd finally share were I am today with this process:
