How many words is the Doctoral application personal statement?

Post by JamieFerrie » Sat Aug 01, 2020 5:34 pm

Hi everyone,

I have a direct question I am hoping someone can answer for me. On the application with the question, "In what way have your work and/or research experiences made you a better candidate for training in clinical psychology?" - It says that it's 3,000 characters. I have tried converting this into word count using Microsoft Word and online converters but seem to be getting conflicting info.

Has anyone who has done applications in the past know how many words, exactly, we can use for this question?

Thanks in advance :)

It's 3000 characters. So how many words that ends up being will depend on the length and number of words you use. There is no 'exact' number of words.

I don't know broadly speaking how many numbers it averages out as, maybe someone who's filled the form in more recently may be able to give you a ballpark figure.
